Hollywood films need to be about ideas that are fresh again
to save movie theater
A film-maker is a little guy standing on stage, covered in chained and Christmas tree lights to some
bull horn. He rants about the cost of melons these days, his household, his government, how we
can't get his girl friend to climax, a novel he read and his grandfather's nose hairs. The filmmaker
insults the audience, makes weird noises with his cheeks and spits on them. Individuals shout and
throw things and sometimes someone cries. Absolutely, no one could spend to see this. Much less let
them into their living-room.
Art's purpose was never only to cause you to feel good. Movie is intended to enlighten, to say all of
the things that you just dared not utter
