Teacher Notes on Slope Intercept Technology Sequence
Compiled and written by Leanna Deters for CSE 670 Math at Western Oregon University
March 7, 2013
Section 1
This teaching sequence is designed for use in an 8th
grade math class. The objectives of this lesson are to
give students an intuitive understanding of how slope intercept affects the graph of a line, how rate of
change in real world problems is related to slope in the linear formula, and to be able to compare rates
of change by graphing the lines that correlate and interpreting that graph for answers.
Section 2
Please make sure to check how the technology materials are used before you begin the lesson
sequence. You need to have at least one device that will run the apps mentioned that can be projected
onto the classroom screen. If your school allows for student use of their own devices, make sure you
allow time and support for students to download apps on their own devices.
