TEACHING LITERATURE Critical Thinking  Students should be engaged in activities that promote higher-order thinking.  Critical thinking.  It means that you take information, question it,and then use itto create new ideas, solve problems, make decisions, make plans and to refine your view of the world. (GlennCowan, 2000) Critical Reading  “Teaching students to think while reading”.  “Non-critical reading is satisfied with recognizing what a textsays and restating the key remarks. Critical reading goes two steps further: having recognized what a textsays, itreflects on what the textdoes.” (Kurland, 2000) BLOOM’S REVISED TAXONOMY (BRT-2001) Bloom’s Taxonomy divides the way people learn into domains. One of these is the cognitive domain, which emphasizes intellectual outcomes. This domain further divides into categories that are arranged progressively from the lowest level of thinking, simple recall,to the highest, creating new ideas. Less
