Roadworthiness: When is a
Caravan Safety Certificate Legally
Necessary?
Are you purchasing a caravan? Perhaps you already own one, or maybe you
are considering selling your caravan. In either scenario, you are probably
curious about the laws regarding safety certificates.
If you are selling a caravan, you will need to acquire a safety certificate. The
first step in receiving your safety certificate is to visit a licensed examiner
who will inspect your caravan. The inspection will make sure that your
caravan can be safely operated, and it will include areas such as the lights,
windscreen, brakes, and suspension. Once you’ve passed the inspection and
received the Caravan Safety Certificate, you will need to display the
certificate in an easily viewed area. The certificate can be placed on the rear
of your caravan for maximum visibility. If your caravan does not pass the
initial inspection, you will need to have any issues taken care of before
another inspection can be performed.
