Poems on Water poetry competition
WaterAid has teamed up with the UK’s green poet, Martin Kiszko, to encourage children
and young people to write their own challenging but fun poetry using personal or imagined
experiences based around global water issues. Budding young poets will have the chance to
win a poetry workshop and performance by Martin Kiszko for their school, as well as signed
books and WaterAid goodies.
Martin Kiszko
Martin Kiszko is a poet, composer and screenwriter. His book, Green Poems for a Blue Planet,
is a collection of 56 poems about how we can help planet Earth. Martin has written Water
Walk especially for WaterAid which has accompanying illustrations by Nick Park, creator of
Wallace and Gromit, to inspire young poets to write (and illustrate if they wish), their own
masterpieces. Martin and a specially selected panel of judges will choose the winning poems.
