gymnasium slowly filled up Friday
morning, eager whispers carried
across the room about meeting
the new principal, Miss Roberts.
Anticipation continued to grow
as each grade trickled in for the
weekly morning assembly.
Guided by current principal
Katy Ginn, Miss Roberts – better known as Lily Roberts, a kindergarten PUPIL at the school
– came from around a corner and
was bombarded with congratulations and hellos to “Miss Roberts.”
Lily was the lucky recipient of the
“principal for a day” auction item
duringtheSt.SimonsandOglethorpe Point Elementary schools’ annual Dolphin Day fundraiser, and
she was taking it all in stride.
“Now make sure you are on
your best behavior when you see
Miss Roberts out and about in the
hallways and classrooms,” Ginn
said to the crowd of students.
Lily, completely undeterred by
her age, seemed a natural-born
leader as she led her fellow pupils
in the Pledge of Allegiance and
school song, made announcements
