Anytime you enter into negotiations, and your frame of mind is weak, you will fail - that's how it works. What you need to have is as much information as you can possibly get your hands on. Knowing about your opponent is something you need to have on your side. You might know your own business, but you still need to know theirs. Your opponent is still your opponent, even if you want a win-win situation for everyone involved.
