At this time Valencias are being packed and it is all systems go. At the moment 34 million cartons have been packed out of 50 million. “Currently they are going at about four million per week, so not long to go now,” says Justin Chadwick, the chief executive officer of the Citrus Growers’Association. Production is slightly down from 50,9 million cartons last year to 50 million so far this year. “The other varieties are all virtually finished, although I believe there is still some lemons to go. We should end with around 14,4 whereas last year’s crop was 13,2, so there has been an increase in the lemon market,” Chadwick added.
