The shipping company will use the

market for LNG fuel following initial sulfur emissions restrictions
effective in 2015.
The LNG bunker vessel will be
managed NYK’s European operation, UK-based NYK LNG Shipmanagement, targeting the 50
LNG-fuelled vessels, mainly ferries, cruise ships, and offshore
vessels operating in the seas of
Northern Europe.
The bunker ship is also to be
used for fuelling NYK vessels
under construction: two tri-fuel
pure car and truck carriers
(PCTCs) bought through its joint
venture with Swedish shipping
company Wallenous.
NYK said it had last May concluded a framework agreement in
which it joins with the LNG arm of
GDF Suez and Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Corporation.
All three partners will be time
charter parties in the ship-owning
company, as well as have shares in
the LNG bunkering company that
will procure and sell LNG-as-fue
