Skangas’ owners are Finland-based gas supplier Gasum Corporation (51%) and publicly-owned Norwegian power utility Lyse (49%). Lyse wholly owns the new LNG bunkering terminal, Risavika LNG Productions. Following Gasum’s acquisition of a majority interest in Skangas last year, Skangass has undertaken a long-term supply contract with Risavika LNG. After the closure of the of the Shell Refinery in Risavika in 2000, the area was rezoned as Risavika Port. In 2006, part of the port area was rezoned for industrial use. In 2008, Lyse and Skangas had permission to build the LNG facility, which was intended to produce 300,000 tonnes of LNG per year under Skangas's operation. In 2012, Skangas won a contract to supply Norwegian ferry operator Fjord Line with a total of 30,000 tonnes of LNG per year. The LNG was to be used to fuel two of its passenger-cargo cruise ferries, “Stavangerfjord” and “Bergensfjord The ferries, the first of their kind to operate only on LNG, were set to operate two routes:
