The US Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission has released an update on the status of its review of
the Golden Pass LNG export project being developed in Texas by
the Middle East nation of Qatar
and ExxonMobil.
The Golden Pass project will
see the transformation of an existing import terminal located on the
Sabine-Neches Waterway that separates Texas and Louisiana into a
liquefaction plant.
Modifications
The application to the regulator
includes modifications to 11 existing interconnections with other
pipeline systems in the US Gulf
coast area.
Project owners ExxonMobil and
state-run Qatar Petroleum, the
world’s largest producer with 77
million tonnes per annum of output, aim to produce US LNG and
provide shipping and sales opportunities to existing and new LNG
markets.
The liquefaction Trains will be
built at the existing terminal in
Jefferson County, Texas, though a
new three-mile long pipeline will
be needed in Calcasieu Parish,
Louisi
