FREE September 25, 2015 | Volume 6, No.11 FREE September 25, 2015 | Volume 6, No.11 RiverRiverTALKTALK Changes enhance long time business By Jackie PearaseBy Jackie Pearase A small group has tackled the safety and esthetic issues raised by the overgrown trail at M.V. Beattie Elementary School – for now. Principal Doug Cumming joined a few adults, one student and a couple of people from the Shuswap Trail Alliance (one who is a MVB parent as well) for a work bee Sept. 19 to make short work of some tall weeds. The group faced wet weather for the Saturday cleanup but free use of a brush saw and a wheeled trimmer from Enderby Rentals made the job much easier. And, as a Shuswap Trail Alliance sanctioned event, the group had liability insurance. The trail was developed at the rear of the field to beautify a gravel pit created to improve field drainage, provide community connectivity and give students a unique area that could be incorporated into learning outcomes.
