Seed Savers Sowing a Celebration By Teresa Andrews
“Such an event!” is how organizer Sarah Bradshaw describes
the upcoming occasion, which
is Enderby Seed Savers’ 20th
anniversary celebration.
It will be held Saturday,
March 1st, from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. at A. L. Fortune School.
The day will honour pioneer
seed saver June Griswold with
a photo display and “recapitulation of what she’s done,” said
Sarah. “She was a moving, driving force for Seed Savers.”
As well, as part of their local
Adopt-a-Seed Program, aimed
at funding the growth and preservation of a seed variety, the
local Seed Savers are adopting
green and red Orach, a chard
considered one of the healthiest
vegetables available.
“These were June’s favourites.”
Some precious seed packages of June Griswold’s green and
red Orach will be available on
March 1st.
Sarah is excited about the
Seed Savers event which has
outgrown the Enderby Drill
Hall venue.
