Nowadays, big companies receive thousands of applications for every job post and to reduce
time spent in sorting them out, they use software that automatically matches resumes with the
job requirements. When going through the resumes, those that contain keywords matching the
ones in the job post have better chances of landing into the hands of the human resource staff
in-charge of narrowing down the number of candidates. A long resume might be able to pass
the software but it will have a very little chance of being read by humans. An application letter of
several pages will turn off employers or hiring managers who do not have the time to read
through your very long resume.
