In three days I depart from Cherbourg to aboard the Titanic with my
husband Mr. Lucian Philip Smith. We are making our return to my parent’s
house back in America from my long honeymoon. Our marriage which took
place at the Central Christian Church was said to be one of the most brilliant
weddings any of the guests had ever seen. Lucian and I planned to travel to
Egypt, the Middle East, and then Europe, but my husband bought first class
tickets for cabin C-31, when I found out I was two months pregnant. My
mother Belle Vinson Hughes was very excited about the news. Also, my
father, James A. Hughes who is currently very busy being the West Virginia
Congressman congratulated me. I very much look forward to coming home on
the Titanic, and seeing my parents in person.
