Introduction and Mission
Dunkin’ Donuts is a worldwide coffee shop and bakery. The mission of Dunkin’ Donuts
is to make and serve the freshest, most delicious coffee and donuts quickly and courteously in
modern, well-merchandised stores (“Dunkin’ donuts,” 2011). Dunkin Donuts strives to be
recognized as a company that responsibly serves guests, franchises, employees, communities,
business partners, and the interests of the planet.
History
In 1946, Bill Rosenberg invested $5,000 to form Industrial Luncheon Services, a
company that delivered meals and coffee-break snacks to factory workers in Boston,
Massachusetts. The success of Industrial Luncheon Services inspired Rosenberg to open his first
coffee shop, “Open Kettle,” in 1948. In 1950, Rosenberg opened the first Dunkin’ Donuts in
Quincy, Massachusetts, and by 1954, Rosenberg had opened four more Dunkin’ Donuts shops
