Geothermal as alternative heat source
As a very esteemed collegiate institute, Geneseo attracts the best and brightest students
from New York State.
For a college, like Geneseo, to become one of the best in state
there has to be a strive for the academic excellence and the best facilities for students.
There are over 5,000 students who use the Geneseo campus daily.
New buildings are
being built every to better the services and amenities for these students.
Two of these new
building are Seneca and Monroe, both brand new, state of the art dorms on campus.
These dorms are special because they utilize new heating technology known as
geothermal energy.
Geothermal energy is considered an environment friendly alternative to fossil fuel.
It can
be used in many different ways.
There are ways to use the heat directly for home heating
and cooling systems (this is the way the dorms utilize the heat).
