MAY 5, 2025 YMCA of South Florida’s “Swim for Jenny” Week Kicks Off Season of Water Safety and Drowning Prevention More than 2,100 children and adults had free swim lessons during Swim for Jenny The YMCA of South Florida kicked off the sea- son of water safety and drowning prevention with the annual “Swim for Jenny,” a week of free water safety lessons at several YMCA family centers in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. More than 2,100 children and adults received free lessons. Since the “Swim for Jenny” program was imple- mented 12 years ago, the YMCA of South Florida has provided more than 100,000 lessons to more than 20,000 children and adults. With Florida still leading the nation in childhood drownings, it is crucial for children and parents to be knowledge- able about water safety and drowning prevention.
