A man with kind eyes hidden behind large-rimmed glasses, surrounded by an
eclectic mix of oddities that exude nostalgia greets customers setting foot in Roland’s
Thrift Store.
That man is 73-year-old Mr.
Roland Lee, owner of Roland’s Thrift Store in
downtown Opelika, Ala.
, for the past 11 years.
He scours various flea markets, yard sales
and other antique stores to find unique memorabilia to sell at his store, and also buys
items customers bring to him.
Lee is known to search for specific items upon the request of his customers,
demonstrating his unmatched customer service, which is one of many things that set
Roland’s Thrift Store apart from any ordinary thrift store.
“My wife and I will come visit Roland’s once a week,” said Dr.
Henry Lewis
Smith, an Opelika native.
“Mr.
Lee’s store is fascinating, and I’m able to find the most
unique, unusual, nostalgic items.
He appears to be as interested in his customers as he is
making money, which has kept us coming back for years.
