commemorated in A
& N with a prayer
meeting near Mahatma Gandhi Statue at Mohanpura on
2 October, 2014 at 8.30 am.
The Lt Governor offered
floral tributes to the Gandhi
Statue and was followed by
other dignitaries.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District appealed to
the public to observe Gandhi Jayanti as
Dry Day and refrain from consuming
liquor. The day was also celebrated as International Day of
Non-violence and therefore
he requested people to desist
from slaughtering
