Local grandmother honoured
for her dedication to NSPCC
A selfless Elstree grandmother
has seen her charity exploits
recognised on the national stage,
as she was included on the New
Year’s Honours list.
Dr Ann Goddard, 79, has been
awarded a British Empire Medal - an
honour that was only recently revived
by the Prime Minister to mark those
who dedicate themselves to their
communities.
After being nominated
by her peers at the Elstree and
Borehamwood branch of the NSPCC,
for whom she has volunteered for
over the last 39 years, the retired GP
was sworn to secrecy until after her
award was announced.
