Holocaust survivor and step-sister of
Anne Frank, Eva Schloss, gave her
heart-breaking account of life under
Nazi rule and escape from
Auschwitz this month.
Speaking at Northwood School on
February 7, the renowned campaigner
revealed the horrors of being betrayed
while living in Amsterdam in 1944 and her
subsequent imprisonment in the notorious
Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp.
While there, Eva witnessed thousands
of fellow prisoners being selected for
execution by Josef Mengele, a Nazi known
as the “Angel of Death”.
Following an
arduous eight months at Auschwitz, Eva
was liberated by the Soviet Red Army in
January 1945, three months before the fall
of Berlin.
