Introduction © The MSEP installer comes in three parts. There is a regular installer that is responsible for installing the .NET Framework, programs, procedures and start menu shortcuts onto the clients machine. There is also a shortcuts installer that is responsible for installing shortcuts for a MSEP install on a network. In addition, the shortcuts installer ensures that the .NET Framework is setup correctly. Finally, there is a raw self- extractor which allows for a manual installation on site. Installing on a Network When you want to install on a network, you would typically run the full installer to populate the network %medexe% directory with the MSEP programs and procedures. The client machines will need to run the shortcuts program, and reference the network %medexe% directory. The shortcuts installer will setup Start menu shortcuts, as well as, ensure that the .NET Framework is installed, and permissions are granted to execute programs from the network %medexe% directory.
