What happens to art when elites recognize the usefulness of art, artists and critics for their purposes, i.e., the purposes of those who decide what is “politically correct,” contributing to their political, social and commercial interests? In answering this question the author mercilessly calls to task patrons, artists and critics, the public and the profession of “art history”… if there is such, as well as the hapless and ignorant EU bureaucrats. But this sharp and well deserved criticism is presented in a witty and imaginative way as a welcome analysis of human stupidity, hypocrisy, and arrogance.
