Before you read look at:
{ the layout – paragraphs, illustrations, titles and subtitles
{
the subject or context, the main focus and what you expect to find there.
Scan through the whole text the first time you read it looking for key
words and phrases.
Then select what appear to be key details for each of these on the second
reading.
Learn to spot words which are there to fill out the sentence.
Make an educated guess from the context and words you already know.
Once you think you have the answer to each question use your knowledge
of language to make a final check to make sure the answer works.
For
example be aware of negatives or tenses which may alter the meaning.
