Submission wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have lots of similar competition rules because the former was based on the latter. Any participant or team that does not follow these rules may be disqualified from further participating in the event. Winning in submission wrestling is easy -- you simply have to make your challenger either say he quits or get him to tap the mat. If neither wrestler surrenders and the referee doesn't end the fight for some reason,, the judges will decide on who is the winner of the match up. The match will go on a 60-second overtime if it's a tie. If no points are scored once the one minute is up, sudden death will settle the winner, by the first person to score a point.
