Submission wrestling is a sport that originated from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so they have a lot of the same rules that are used for their competitions. Players or teams who don't follow these rules could be disqualified from the tournament. In order for you to be the winner in submission wrestling, you have to make your adversary submit or throw in the towel. He either does this by verbally saying he quits or by tapping the mat. If neither wrestler surrenders and the referee doesn't put a stop to the fight for some reason,, the judges will decide on who is the winner of the match up. The match will continue on a 60-second overtime if it's a tie. After the 60-second overtime is over and still no one scores, the winner is decided by sudden death, which means the person who scores first is the winner.
