Academic excellence and determination pay off
Kelly leaves her mark in becoming salutatorian

Hard work and leadership are
some of the characteristics of
Mt.
Assisi’s 2012 valedictorian,
Samantha Benson.
Valedictorian status is determined by highest grade point
average.
The meaning of the
word itself has Latin roots and
means to write and deliver a
“farewell address”, according
to Webster’s dictionary.
As has
been tradition, Benson as Valedictorian will give a commencement address at graduation about her and her fellow
graduate’s future.
“I am extremely proud of
Sam’s hard work and her many
contributions to our school,”
said Mt.
Assisi principal Sr.
Mary Francis Werner.
Benson has also been an
active member of the National
Honors Society.
She currently
serves as vice president, and
helps organize events and keeps
the Mt.
Assisi chapter of National Honors Society runn
