BACKGROUND, POLICY, AND PROCEDURES:
A.
Purpose of Adult Guardianship/Conservatorship: When a minor in the department’s
custody faces release from custody due to age, but the department believes the minor will
be unable to adequately care for themselves or manage their financial affairs in
adulthood, the department may petition the court to appoint an appropriate adult guardian
or conservator.
