Finding Your Voice by Dr. Tom Pace, Senior Pastor
“Finding your voice” is a phrase often used among writers and other creative folks. To find one’s
voice means to come to understand your own unique style and tone, your own way of writing
or singing or painting. In a broader sense, the phrase means finding one’s own sense of purpose
and calling, one’s unique place in the world.
In the story of John the Baptist, his father is told that he will have a son and will name him
John. Because he doesn’t believe the prophecy, he is unable to speak. It is only when he
embraces his place in God’s purposes, and names the child John, that he finds his voice again.
