Have you ever wondered what are those big metal containers mounted high up the pole
at the corner outside your house and what are their uses? Well, those are electrical
transformers.
A transformer is an electrical piece of equipment which transmits
electricity from one voltage and changes it into another voltage through electromagnetic
induction.
It usually has ferromagnetic core.
The use of an electric transformer is for
transmitting electricity from power plants to different destinations.
The voltages in power
plants are often high but once there reach the substation it becomes low and when it
reaches a smaller transformer the voltage is once again reduced.
This goes on until the
power has reached its level of usage in homes and businesses.
There are different types of electrical transformers which we used in our daily lives
without realizing it.
