A Brief History Of Chinese Cuisine
The tradition of Chinese cooking was originally introduced by China s first prime
minister, Yi Yin of Shang Dynasty in the 15th
Century BC.
There were two preponderating philosophies of Chinese tradition and both greatly
influenced the development of the Chinese cooking branch of art.
Philosopher Confucius stressed the creative and social expressions of cooking
preparations and eating.
He stated that in the Chinese culture, you must never meet
together without foodstuffs as it was considered extremely rude to invite people to
your house without providing the right kind of food.
Confucius created the values of
cooking and table manners, which are still used in China to this very day.
The
Philosopher also stressed the greatness and value of presentation involving the use of
material, colour, texture and grooming of a dish.
Harmony was his presidency.
