- Qatar is an independent sovereign Arab State.
Its religion is Islam and Shari a law
shall be a main source of its legislations.
Its political system is democratic.
The Arabic Language
shall be its official language.
The people of Qatar are a part of the Arab nation.

Constitution
The legal system in Qatar is based on the Sharia, and has adopted many principles of the
Napoleonic Civil Code, British legal system and Egyptian jurisprudence and procedure have also
had profound influence on the legal and judicial system of Qatar.
The British legal system was prevalent until - proclaiming independence on 3rd September, joining
the League of the Arab States and the United Nations and entering into a new era - 1971 for civil
matters pertaining to non muslim citizens.
