INTRODUCTION
Labor law (also called labor law or employment law) is the body of laws,
administrative rulings, and precedents which address the legal rights of, and restrictions on
working people and their organizations.
As such, it mediates many aspects of the relationship
between trade unions, employers and employees.
All of us, in different ways or stages of our
life, play a role as employees or employers, so it is important for us to know the rules of the
game.
During this course we will deal with different topics such as the history of labor law
and its development through history; the basis of Panamanian labor law and its regulations;
the rights and duties of the parties (employer and employee); the concept subordination, the
labor contract, vacations, causes for dismissal; holidays, strike, and other important issues.
