Sydney-born civil engineer, Gerard Mimmo, 36, and his 28-year-old English wife, Rachel, are not visiting the
petrol station every third day, instead the couple have outfitted a six-cylinder diesel Toyota Landcruiser to run
on vegetable oil.
They have dubbed their Landcruiser, the "Battered Fish", because that is what is smells like as it powers along.
The smart-thinking pair - he s just finished his Masters in science studying sustainability, while she is a
corporate lawyer - plan to travel 30,000 kilometres around Australia.
The trip will take in north Queensland, northern Australia and the red centre before the pair head back to
Sydney for Christmas Eve.
