Scholars have written articles on ethnic consciousness in SriLanka on a political perspective.
Learned writers have failed to attempt to dissect and analyse the structure and composition of the
two ethnic groups in SriLanka.
It would be appropriate to have a clear understanding of the two
appellations before we attempt to describe ethnic consciousness.
Significant level of knowledge in social sciences and psychiatry is required to be imparted or
communicated to the Tamils, universally.
While analysing the ethnic consciousness in SriLanka, we
have to first attempt to dissect and analyse the various properties and characteristics of humanity, in
general, with particular reference to, the TAMILS.
Elites and rulers in India and SriLanka seem to prattle, quite often, words like, “Thalith”, “low
caste”, “scheduled caste”, etc when they sense a degree of fear or risk for their survival.
