Ironman Windfall for the Eastern Cape
A new three-year deal signed between Standard Bank and Ironman South Africa will have a massive positive financial impact on Port Elizabeth and East London, bringing in millions of extra rands in much-needed revenue to both cities. Ironman South Africa MD Keith Bowler says the annual direct spend in Port Elizabeth every year is in the region of R80 million and around R40 million for East London. “We are going to see direct annual spend in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro increase to around R100 million while Buffalo City is set to enjoy continued sold-out fields for the 70.3 half ironman every January,” said Bowler.
