The granddaughter of Fort
Worth amateur John Grace is
old enough to know that her
“Papa” plays in a lot of golf
tournaments.
Her mother, Jennifer, tells
Elizabeth and her 3-year-old
brother, Michael, about their
grandfather’s on-course accomplishments, but Elizabeth has
skeptical tendencies.
When her mother showed
Elizabeth a Texas Links article
about Papa Grace a few months
ago, the youngster saw a photo
of Grace hitting a shot out of a
sand trap.
She turned to her mother
asked, “If Papa is so good, why
is he hitting out of the dirt? Isn’t
he supposed to be in the fairway?”
Ah, kids.
Fortunately for Grace, his
granddaughter also saw a more
recent article in this magazine
about his winning the “Triple
Crown” of Texas Amateu
