This Assessment gives you the opportunity to find out about the suburb in which you live.
Look carefully around where
you live and you will find many places and buildings of historical interest.
STEP 1 – Choose a site from your local area that is at least 50 years old
These could include:
• A park or community area named after a local identity.
You should research the park and why it was named after
that person.
• The local War Memorial.
• A Church that is of historical significance
• An old house or shop
• A public building such as the Council Chambers
• A bridge or road
• A local monument, such as a fountain, water trough
• A commemorative plaque or sign
• A cemetery or the grave of a particular person.
You must choose a place from the suburb you live in, or within 10 mins from your house that has some historical
importance.
