Ruchenitsa is a Bulgarian folk dance, which can be played in many
different ways, but most often the dancer plays it alone or in pair with
someone else.
This gives them freedom and a possibility for
improvisation.
There are different styles of dancing ruchenitsa in the
different parts of Bulgaria.
We will describe Thracian ruchenitsa
because our town is located in this part of Bulgaria.
The metre of the dance is 7/8.
Description of the legs:
One – gently squatting step with the right foot to the right.
The left
foot is put next to the right one;
Two – tiptoe with the left foot next to the right foot;
Threeeee – gently squatting leap with the right foot at one place;
The same is repeated with the left foot.
One – gently squatting step with the left foot to the left.
The right foot
is put next to the left one;
Two – tiptoe with the right foot next to the left foot;
