TOXIC EPIDERMAL NECROLYSIS

Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis also known as TENS, is a
skin disease that is caused by a severe reaction to
pharmaceutical drugs.
This skin reaction is more
commonly caused by a chemical reaction to drugs
such as a cox-2 inhibitor Bextra and penicillin.
Aside
from the pain and discomfort caused by developing
this type of reaction, it can also lead to lead to
infections developing from the skin diseases caused
by TENS.
Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis is not restricted to
affecting a single age group, it can affect anyone no matter how young or old they are.
Although there
is not an age restriction to developing TENS, it is more commonly seen in older people due to the fact
that they are more commonly exposed to many different types of medication and raise their risk of
developing a reaction.
It is recommended that older patients and anyone who is on medication take
note of any symptoms associated with the development of TENS.
