aesthetic norm to the extent that Disney’s has” 1.
Introduction
The aim of this essay is to analyse to what extent Disney represents the
dominant global mode of animated filmmaking.
For that, I will select one of its
principal traits (realism) and focus on the issue of acting in animation.
To
illustrate that, some examples form Snow White and the Seven Dwarves2 will be
used.
Dominant global mode
A dominant global mode is a particular manner of completing a task that, for
some reason, becomes mainstream and pre-eminent to other solutions.
In this
case, Disney’s films are popularly associated with animation, tending to
overshadow other kinds of animated works.
