How Long Hip Replacement Devices Last
In behalf of patients who had hip replacement implants, law firms in the US, UK and Australia
have been currently filing numerous lawsuits against DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc.
Johnson and
Johnson issued a worldwide recall of their hip implant devices.
DePuy is its subsidiary company.
Recently the British Medical Journal published a feature regarding all-metal hips’ dark history
and a 2005 memo about the hip cancer risk being ignored by Johnson & Johnson.
There are around 98,000 recipients of the ASR XL Acetabular System and the ASR Hip
Resurfacing System worldwide.
After the release of data presenting that these devices fail
prematurely in one out of eight patients, the two devices were recalled.
The manufacturing and
marketing of these two devices started in 2003.
DePuy pulled off from the Australian market the above-mentioned products in December 2009.
