North Carolina's Eastern Region includes 13 counties with a combined population of more than 1 million people. Among the top industries in North Carolina's Eastern Region are advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defense, value-added agriculture, life sciences and tourism, as well as major health care and higher education concentrations. Colleges and universities include 11 campuses of the North Carolina Community College System and East Carolina University. Major population centers include Greenville, Jacksonville, Goldsboro and Kinston, NC.
