Foundation Day Prayer December 12, 2021 “God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December.” James M. Barrie Song: The Circle of Mercy Introduction On this anniversary of our foundation, we are called together by the tenderness of two women, Catherine with her tender audacity and the Virgin of Guadalupe who speaks tenderly to the indigenous man Juan Diego, integrating cultures. We thank God for the inspiration of these women that renews and transforms us in the revolution of tenderness that we want to implement in all our actions. Introduction to the First Reading The following reading is excerpted from a letter written by Catherine McAuley to Elizabeth Moore, Kingstown, July 1837 found in the Correspondence of Catherine McAuley. The selection is one example among many of Catherine’s tender care, especially for anyone sick or suffering, and her simple, clear way of passing on the value of tenderness as our legacy to uphold.
