October 12, 2023 Leadership message In October, we will have the opportunity to share our “culture of encuentro” in the various Mercy Life Gatherings (in-person and virtual) that have been scheduled. We recognize that a concern in our meetings is: How can we accompany and respond to those who suffer with love and mercy? Therefore, we invite you to reflect on the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10, 30-35), which synthesizes Christian teaching. The story not only tells us what should be done regarding a neighbor who is suffering, but also tells us how it must be done. The parable puts forward the pedagogy for charitable action. The parable not only tells us that we should pour oil and wine on the wounds of those who have been battered, but also teaches us that we have to know how to look at reality for us to be moved to compassion in the presence of suffering, that we have to share our burdens so as not to fall into paternalism, and that we must create refuges of solidarity to implem
