Mercy Now – August 6, 2026 Newsletter for the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas Leadership message The celebration of the Feast of the Transfiguration on August 6 marks a moment of wonder and glory in the midst of Ordinary Time. Jesus invites some of his closest friends, perhaps those he trusts the most, to experience something of himself and his relationship with God that he is not quite ready to share even with the other disciples. There is intimacy and mutual delight as Jesus “lets his guard down” enough for these three to glimpse who he is at the depths of his being. There is vulnerability as Jesus leans on the wisdom figures of Moses and Elijah in the face of his impending Passion. There is confirmation of call and mission, both still shrouded in Mystery.
