Two young
girls, among nine
novices, entered
the Sisters of Mercy in Rochester
on Sept.
8, 1938.
They even taught
their first year together in St.
Charles
Grade School.
Surprisingly, both
would celebrate their 75th
jubilees
as religious together.
Sister Mary dePaul Dugan, one
of the two, shared the words spoken by her seventh-grade teacher
at St.
John the Evangelist Grade
School, “If any of you are thinking of becoming a priest or a sister,
start today and say three ‘Hail
Marys’ to our Lady for that intention.
”
