the federal election overshadow the
importance of ensuring Sydney MP
Clover Moore’s same-sex adoption bill
is passed in NSW.
On August 18, Labor MLC Penny
Sharpe posted on Facebook that state
MPs had received 28 emails against
same-sex adoption but none in favour.
“If you support the best interests of
all children in NSW now is the time to
let your MP know that you want them
to support same-sex adoption,” Sharpe
wrote.
“If you’re in NSW, please let your
voice be heard.
”
Sharpe told Sydney Star Observer
a few days later that, based on what
she had received, those numbers were
evening out.
“It’s pretty even at the moment,”
Sharpe said.
“I’ve had around 30 against
and around 30 in favour but there are
more coming in all the time.
”
