The Waukegan Park District is celebrating Black History Month in February with special program- ming throughout the month. The programs and events will honor African Americans and their contributions to art, culture, and local history. Soul Food with Sylvia Saturday, February 3, 2024 • 11am–1pm Jane Addams Center in Bowen Park Sylvia England, Founder and Executive Director of The African American Museum at the England Manor, will demonstrate the cooking of a traditional soul food dish. Preregistration is required. $8 resident/$10 nonresident. Parents’ Night Out Friday, February 16, 2024 • 5:30–9pm Field House Sports, Fitness & Aquatics Center in Hinkston Park Children will participate in open play, watch a movie, and engage in activities and crafts to learn more about African American achievements. Members of the Field House Sports, Fitness Aquatics Center can register their child(ren) for free! Preregistration is required. Free for members/$15 for nonmembers. Black History Celebration
